ON-ICE SKILL DEVELOPMENT
Purposeful instruction in puck control, passing, deception, decision-making, and game situations. Players practise skills under pressure and apply them through competitive drills and small-area games.
POWER SKATING
Focused work on edge control, balance, acceleration, transitions, and skating efficiency, helping players move with greater control and confidence.
SHOOTING & SCORING
Instruction in shooting mechanics, puck positioning, release speed, accuracy, and scoring decisions, with attention to creating and finishing opportunities in game situations.
OFF-ICE PERFORMANCE
Age-appropriate coaching in speed, agility, coordination, strength, mobility, and movement quality. Players learn how to train with purpose and build useful preparation and recovery habits.
GOALTENDER DEVELOPMENT
Goalies receive dedicated, position-specific instruction from designated goaltending coaches throughout the academy. Training focuses on skating and crease movement, positioning, angles, tracking, rebound control, post integration, and save selection, with coaching adapted to each athlete’s age and ability.
Through technical drills and live shooting situations, goaltenders work on reading the play, managing screens, responding to second chances, and recovering efficiently. Coaches provide individual feedback to help goalies understand their decisions, refine their technique, and build consistent habits.
Development continues off the ice through movement, mobility, coordination, and classroom learning, with attention to preparation, communication, confidence, and resetting after a goal. The focus is on helping goaltenders become more composed, capable, and confident in their crease.
HOCKEY IQ & CLASSROOM LEARNING
Interactive sessions exploring positioning, puck support, decision-making, preparation, and the details that help players understand the game.
NUTRITION & GUEST SPEAKERS
Planned educational sessions on fuelling, hydration, recovery, and the habits behind performance, alongside opportunities to learn from experienced people in hockey. Confirmed speakers and session details will be announced here.
BUILT AROUND YOUR DEVELOPMENT
The Pottie Method March Break Academy brings every part of a player’s development into one immersive, four-day hockey experience. From arrival to pickup, athletes follow a structured schedule that connects what they learn on the ice, in the gym, and in the classroom. Each part of the day has a purpose, with coaching, feedback, and opportunities to put that learning into practice.
Each day includes two hours of on-ice development and two hours of coached off-ice programming. On the ice, players work on skating mechanics, edge control, puck skills, shooting, and decision-making before applying those details in competitive situations. Off the ice, age-appropriate sessions develop speed, agility, coordination, strength, and mobility while teaching athletes how to prepare, train, and recover effectively.
The learning continues beyond physical training. Classroom sessions and guest presentations explore hockey IQ, nutrition, preparation, and the habits that support performance. Players gain insight into why these details matter and how to make them part of their own routines. Specialist coaching and different teaching perspectives help athletes find new ways to understand and improve their game.
Throughout the academy, team challenges, competitions, and shared experiences give players opportunities to build friendships, develop leadership, and enjoy the week together. The schedule balances focused instruction and competitive energy with time to eat, recover, and reset.
Our goal is for every athlete to leave with a clearer understanding of their game: what they do well, where they can improve, and how to keep working. Four days of purposeful development, practical learning, and memorable experiences—giving players skills and habits they can carry into the rest of their season and beyond.

WHEN WILL WE RECEIVE OUR SCHEDULE?
Registered families will receive their final group schedule approximately three weeks before the academy begins. This will include arrival and pickup times, daily rotations, check-in instructions, and everything your athlete needs to bring.
Please follow your assigned group’s schedule, as activity times may vary between groups.
HOW DOES ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE WORK?
Players must check in with PMT staff when they arrive each day. Our team will direct them to their group and help them get ready for their first activity.
At the end of the day, families must follow the designated checkout process. Please tell us in advance if another adult will be picking up your child or if there are any pickup restrictions staff need to know about.
IS SUPERVISION AVAILABLE OUTSIDE MY CHILD’S SCHEDULED HOURS?
Supervision is provided during your group’s designated camp hours. Please arrange drop-off and pickup within those times.
If siblings have different schedules or you need an alternative arrangement, contact us before camp. We cannot accommodate early arrivals or late departures unless an arrangement has been approved in advance.
WHAT EQUIPMENT AND CLOTHING SHOULD WE PACK?
Please send your athlete with:
• Full hockey equipment, including a helmet, full facial protection, neck guard, and stick.
• Pottie Method provided jersey.
• Workout clothing and clean indoor running shoes.
• A refillable water bottle.
• Lunch and snacks for a full day.
• An extra shirt and pair of socks.
Put your athlete’s name on all belongings, including sticks, water bottles, clothing, and lunch bags. Any additional requirements will be outlined in your pre-camp email.
DO PLAYERS NEED TO BRING THEIR OWN FOOD?
Yes. Unless we advise otherwise, families are responsible for packing lunch and enough snacks to keep their athlete fuelled throughout the day.
Please pack nut-free options and use an insulated lunch bag with ice packs for food that needs to stay cold. All allergies and dietary needs must be disclosed during registration.
Any meals or snacks provided through an academy partner will be communicated to families in advance.
HOW ARE MEDICAL CONCERNS HANDLED?
Please provide relevant medical information, allergies, injuries, and emergency contacts when registering. Let us know before camp if anything changes.
If a player becomes unwell or gets hurt, staff will stop their activity and provide assistance appropriate to the situation and their training. We will contact a parent or emergency contact when needed, and pickup may be required if the athlete cannot continue safely.
Emergency services will be contacted immediately for serious situations. A player with a suspected concussion will be removed from activity and will not return that day.
CAN FAMILY MEMBERS WATCH THE TRAINING?
Families are welcome to watch on-ice sessions from designated spectator areas.
For classroom sessions, off-ice training, and team activities, we ask that players have space to learn, participate, and connect with their group. If you need to speak with or collect your child during the day, please check in with staff.
WHEN WILL COACHES, PARTNERS, AND SPECIAL GUESTS BE ANNOUNCED?
We will introduce confirmed academy coaches, partners, and guests through our website and social media as camp approaches. Announcements will explain who is joining us and how they will be involved in the player experience.
We are working toward special guest appearances, including potential NHL involvement. Specific appearances are not guaranteed and may change because of hockey schedules, travel, or other commitments.
WHAT IF OUR PLANS CHANGE AFTER REGISTERING?
Cancellations received within 1 month of the academy’s start date are non-refundable. Refunds are not provided once the academy begins or for missed attendance, including illness, injury, scheduling conflicts, or personal circumstances.
PMT may consider a program credit at its discretion, but credits are not guaranteed. Please contact us promptly if your athlete can no longer attend.
THE GROUP IS FULL. CAN WE STILL REQUEST A SPOT?
Yes. Email Pottiemethodtraining@gmail.com with your athlete’s name, birth year, and current playing level to request a place on the waiting list.
If an appropriate opening becomes available, we will contact you with the next steps. A waiting-list request does not reserve or guarantee a space.
WHAT HAPPENS TO ITEMS LEFT BEHIND?
Found belongings will be collected by staff so families can identify and reclaim them. Please report missing items as soon as possible and check that your athlete has everything before leaving each day.
Clearly labelled belongings are much easier to return. Please leave valuables and unnecessary electronics at home.
